9 days away from work. What joy.
Its allowing me to catch up with reading. Just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. So much better than i expected. Considering its ment to me a young adult book, this old adult found it a wonderful read. But then as a wise person said recently, you cant go wrong with Death as your guide.
Oh, the person that said that should really get on and post a journal. Its a story im looking forward to reading.
Went and seen Simon Anstell the other day. For those of you that dont know, he present the pop/comedy show Never Mind The Buzzcocks. His stand up show is completly different from what i expected. A comic look into ego, self and love. Intelligent and funny, he is also not afraid to take the piss out of himself. If you get the chance, go see him.
I also was amused by something Russel Howard said on tv. There were two gay guys on a british airways flight making out during the journey. Some chavs on the flight were complaining.
"Stop it you two, thats not natural" said one of the angry chavs.
"Not Natural? Your flying" came the reply.
Brilliant.
Also had a glass of 40 year old whisky yesterday. From a small distillary in scotland that only ran for two years, 1964-65. My dad worked there in 65 and may well have bottled that very one. I bought him a bottle of it recently and he has been waiting for a occasion to open it. Yesterday was his and my mums 40th wedding aniversary, well worth opening it for.
It tasted like smoth caramel mixed with spice and may well have been the best whisky ive ever tasted.
(but then, at 110 pounds a bottle, im glad it was good)
